LAPT - Pokerstars Latin American Poker Tour

The Pokerstars Latin American Poker Tour, more well known as the LAPT, is now in it's third season which runs well into 2010. Planned stops in season 3 include venues such as Playa Conchal, Punta del Este, Vina del Mar and Argentina. This year is also the first year that the Latin American Poker Tour will crossover with the EPT and share the Pokerstars Caribbean Adventure (PCA) tournament. As always Pokerstars are offering all their players the chance to qualify online for the LAPT.

Qualify For The LAPT Online

Pokerstars is the only place you can qualify for the LAPT online. They currently run two forms of LAPT Satellites. The first method of qualification is via the popular steps tournaments and the second direct MTT qualifiers. The SNG steps tournaments run all year round and step 1 starts off with just a $7.50 buyin. You can buyin directly to all of the steps levels but the higher the level the more it will cost you. The final step is step 6 where you will find one or more live event packages on offer depending on the live event buyin. The MTT satellites to the LAPT run a few weeks before the build up to LAPT events and vary in price again depending on the live event buyin. There are always feeder MTT's into the main even MTT satellite which cost considerably less to enter. There is no reason why you can't qualify for the LAPT event of your choice online at Pokerstars for a much cheaper price than the events buyin.

LAPT Previous Winner

The Latin American Pokerstars Tour has completed two full seasons and has paid out a staggering amount of prize money in the process. Season 1 started with only 3 events on the calendar in Brazil, Costa Rica and Uruguay. Julien Nuijten won the Brazilian event and took home a $222,000 share of the $785,000 prize pool. Event two in Costa Rica was won by Valdemar Kwaysser who netted the $274,103 first place pay out. The final event LAPT Punta del Este in Uruguay was won by Jose Miguel Espinar who won the first place prize money which amounted to $241,000.

Season 2 saw 1 more event added to the LAPT tour. The first event in Costa Rica was won by 18 old online pro Ryan Fee who won the $285,000 first prize. The second and newest LAPT in Chile was won by Fabian Ortiz who took home $283,500. The Uruguay leg of the tour was won by Karl Hevory for $283,500 and the final event in Argentina was won by Dominik Nitsche who is currently the biggest winner on the LAPT winning a massive $381,000.
