Born in 1979, Prahlad Friedman grew up in California and started his poker career playing limit holdem. One of the unique things about this poker star is he was actually the first online poker player to really make a name for himself in the Word Series of Poker. Prahlad is also well known for his rap in the 2005 World Series of Poker segments of “The Nuts”.

Friedman became engaged in 2002 to fellow poker professional Dee Luong who he married shortly after. Prahlad was originally a limit holdem specialist however after a few years of playing he switched to NL texas holdem because he realised it was a much more profitable game online.

Players may recognise Prahlad through some of his online screen names including, spirit rock on Full Tilt Poker, Prefontaine on Pokerstars and Mahatma on Ultimate Bet. Prahlad in his prime was often seen playing very often at the highest stakes available online. Many regarded him in the early 2000 era as the best online player in the world.

Poker Skill

Many of Prahlad’s poker nemeses will commend him for his highly aggressive game and unpredictable mentality which makes him so successful. Often found playing heads up at stakes up to $200/$400 he never usually turns down a challenger. The only player Prahlad is known to have refused to play is “Green Plastic” because Prahlad states that he has lost too much money to him.

Since the whole internet poker boom players may be surprised to learn that Prahlad disappeared for a few years. He came back in 2007 a little rusty and many players took advantage of this. No longer the scary force he once was, internet poker professionals are not happy to challenge him.

Tournament Prominence

Prahlad rose to fame outside the internet poker world in 2003 after taking his first World Series of Poker bracelets down netting himself a nice 100k cash prize in the process as well. This poker pro is now no stranger to big money cashes and has netted himself well over 2 million dollars in live tournament winnings since his success. Friedmans most recent success was in August 2009 where he took down the WPT Legends of Poker event to take home over 1 million dollars in prize money for his efforts. This helped to secure his comeback after the big break he took from internet poker in the mid 2000’s.
