It was Pokerstars and Full Tilt that stole a march with these games a couple of years ago, with a number of their rivals subsequently releasing their own versions. You can see a list of the current variations of fast poker (that I've been able to find) to the right.

There are variations between different poker room offerings, of course. To see exactly what each one offers you can hit the links and take a look. But essentially they're solving a problem which many players experience (at least the more impatient ones), namely how to get faster action in slow games or when you're ready to fold early on.

In general, they offer the option to fold and immediately get moved to another table ready for a new deal. No waiting around. You're straight into a new hand. This works because you're in a pool of players. As soon as any player in the pool hits fold, they get moved to a new table.

Personally, I have to admit I'm not comfortable with it. You potentially lose the chance to pick up clues on how opponents think and act over a series of hands, eliminating one of the core elements of poker strategy - observing opponents.

There are some good points of course, which explains the popularity of the new games.

May suit players who like running multiple simultaneous tables - you'll get to play many more hands in the same amount of time than playing single 'normal' tables. You can still play multiple tables of course, up to four with some of the options.

Your VIP points will rack up faster.

Play through for bonuses will probably be speeded up.

If you want to try out a fast poker of this type it may be worth starting off with Bovada poker. They're fast becoming one of the leading poker operators, and they welcome US players with open arms too.

888Poker is the most recent poker room to announce a fast poker version. I've written this article on 25th October 2013 and as of today I don't believe it's officially released and available to play.

But 888's version we know is called Snap Poker, and is likely to be well received by their existing player base.

Snap Poker was tested out by alpha and beta testers during September to weed out any bugs....and should be available to all players soon.
The video below gives a good introduction to some fast poker game action. It covers a Bovada Zone Poker game, and the player in the video demonstrates clearly how you can play the software to get the most out of it.

Fast Poker Game
If you want to play in fast paced Texas Holdem games, there are some options open other than looking for a table where everyone appears to keep their fingers hovering over the raise or fold key.

Fast poker games, or fast-fold poker games as they're sometimes called - have been rolled out onto a number of the leading platforms.

The poker rooms are constantly searching for new innovations which will add an extra dimension to their games - either setting themselves apart from the pack, or just keeping up with their competitors. The popularity of fast poker games suggests it was an inspired innovation.
